CICHIELO

Nicholas Cichielo is the Executive Vice President of the Paint & Decorating Retailers Association, and publisher of The Faux Finisher magazine, with more than 50 years experience in the paint and decorating business.

Ten years ago people said Faux Finishing was over, that "It is only a fad."  Calling Faux Finishing a fad was a misguided notion.  Faux Finishing has deep roots in the decorative painting arts, first practiced centuries ago.  Today, decorative finishing has geared itself towards more sophisticated finishes incorporating realism, depth and translucency.  It's about finishes such as Venetian and European Plaster techniques, Metallic finishes, Layered textures, Faux Marbles, unique Wood-grains, Murals and Trompe L'oeil renderings and other intricate finishes. People will always be influenced by history and always desire the looks of Old European designs, contemporary designs and eclectic styles.

Nick will be discussing the direction of Faux Finishing and Decorative Painting in his seminar "2004 Industry Trends," and the results of a retailers survey on this very important topic.  He will also conduct an overview of the market, and where it's going.  Be sure to get your seat, you won't want to miss Cichielo's insights into the future of faux!
